What Documents Are Needed for Child Support Grant

If a family has never received Families First/TANF benefits, federal law requires states to charge an annual fee of $35.00 for child support services beginning October 1, 2018. This fee is charged after $550 in child support has been received in the case. Again, this is an annual fee that is charged once a year. If a family has received Families First/TANF benefits, they do not have to pay the $35 annual fee. The following measures may result in the suspension of family allowances: There are many ways to apply for child care. Unless you are a beneficiary of the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), it is up to you to use our services. When you receive TANF, a childcare request is automatically sent to our office. While your cooperation is essential to establish authorship and support, the application itself requires nothing else on your part. It is important to know that you do not need to have formal and legal custody of your child to apply. However, the child must live with you for you to be considered a custodial parent. If your child lives with you and you would like to apply for child care, please click here to complete the application. Note: You cannot receive this grant for more than six children who are not your biological or legally adopted children. Note: If you are unable to collect the money yourself, you can appoint an attorney at the SASSA office or give someone a power of attorney to collect the grant on your behalf. As mentioned above, if you receive CalWORKS (cash assistance/social assistance from the government), you will automatically be referred to a child support office in your area. SASSA can decide whether the child`s subsidy needs to be revised. Your income, as declared during the grant application, forms the basis for this decision. You will be informed three months before the date on which the verification will take place or on which the certificate of life (proof that you are still alive) is due. If you receive your money through the bank, institution or prosecutor, you must complete an annual certificate of life for the child at the SASSA offices. A child care file can be opened by a parent or legal guardian, whether or not there is a court order to support the children. If you already have a court order, opening a case provides neutral support every step of the way, keeps records, and helps both parties stay on track. If you don`t have a case, applying for child support means that your local child support agency will help you locate the other parent, establish legal paternity/parentage if necessary, get a court order, and make sure it`s enforced in all states and many other countries.

To get started, you have several options: you can apply for child care by completing an application online or by downloading and printing a child care application. If you are in need, you may receive a grant to help you raise the child you are caring for. *Please note that individuals currently receiving CalWORKS (Government Cash Assistance/Welfare) will be automatically referred to their local child support agency.
